I saw Dr. Van Huis a while ago and completely regretted it. The way he acted walking in the door is he had his mind made up and my diagnosis before he even saw me. Whatever I said to him made no difference. Terrible listener. Zero confidence in him.

He was genuinely the worst doctor I have ever been to. I went in there with constant stomach pains and not sleeping for days at a time because I was in so much pain, I thought maybe he could help identify something that’s going on or even give a lead. All he told me was he had no idea what was wrong with me and that he didn’t know what tests to order next for me. My after visit summary notes were completely blank. If you’re having GI issues, save your time and go somewhere else.

It seems like he's a new doctor, so I will try to be as fair as I can be. My son went to see Dr. Van Huis for what I thought could be gastritis or an ulcer. I have a medical background, but was going to leave the diagnosing to the doctors. The immediate care doctor and the ER doctor he'd seen beforehand also thought the same (without any prompting from me or my son). During the appointment, Dr. Van Huis said that my son was probably just constipated, so he ordered an abdominal xray. He also asked us what we thought it could be. When I said I thought it might be gastritis/an ulcer, he told me that the only cause of gastritis/ulcers was H.Pylori, and since my son had already tested negative for that, there was no way he had it. (H. Pylori is not the only cause for gastritis/ulcers.) I also asked him that since my son has a history of SIBO, if maybe that had come back and could be at least part of the issue. He asked if my son had any prior abdominal surgeries. When he said no, Dr. Van Huis proceeded to tell us that my son probably never even had SIBO to begin with, since it's only caused by abdominal surgeries. (This is also not true.)
My son ended up getting the abdominal xray just in case, and the doctor that read the test (who was instructed by Dr. Van Huis to pay special attention to the amount of stool in the bowels) stated that there was no excess stool in the intestines. However, Dr. Van Huis messaged my son later and said he was constipated within a 2 inch portion of his bowels and suggested a MiraLax purge.
He did not do a MiraLax purge as suggested, but instead made an appointment with another GI specialist in the area. This new doctor is running some tests to rule out any major diseases, but highly suspects.......gastritis.
