I took my 92 year old mother here as it is where Medicare insurance referred us with their authorization to have 3 teeth extracted. My mom actually needed 6 teeth extracted, 2 which were causing her a lot of pain. The insurance for Medicare said it would take 60-90 days to receive authorization and as I didnât want my mom to suffer waiting that long, I took her to my dentist and just paid for the 3 that my dentist said needed to be removed because of the pain and infection with a credit card. On our initial visit to Dr. Moorehouse, to review the treatment my mom needed, he said why donât you just take her to your dentist and have these 3 extracted there? I thought that was a strange thing to say. He had this hostile tone which I took as a red flag. On this day of the surgery, he proceeded to take the syringe out and I stopped him and asked him about the numbing gel. He practically shouted as if I asked about something ridiculous, ,âOh, we donât have any of THAT!â He said it didnât make a difference. The last dentist that said that to me was about 40 years ago and I would never return to someone with that attitude. Iâve had that last dentist give me an injection without the numbing gel because I was too shy to speak up for myself then. Since then, I always receive the numbing gel and I never even had to ask, itâs common practice to provide this by any reputable practice. And it ABSOLUTELY makes a world of difference for me. First of all, everyone is different, with different pain thresholds and sensitivities. The elderly, are particularly more vulnerable as their tissue is more fragile. I thought about taking my mom and getting out of there. But we had already waited months for this appointment. I let him proceed and my mom looked like she was in so much pain and he gave her multiple injections for the 3 sights. When the injections were completed, she looked like she had passed out. Her eyes were closed and she couldnât talk. Doctors take an oath to cause no harm. A simple solution could make a world of difference, yet this arrogant old quack lacks compassion and I know for a fact that many practitioners are too lazy and cheap to take a few minutes to allow an injection sight a few minutes to numb. My son had numerous surgeries as a baby and some nurses took the time to numb injection and procedure sights and some couldnât be bothered. So I would take the remainder of the numbing tube samples that would be thrown away and prepare sights where he was going to have blood drawn or injections. Dr. Morehouseâs tone and energy is horrendous. I was asked to leave when he was going to extract my motherâs teeth. He stated with this weird expression, and I sensed anger and frustration that I had the audacity to request something unfathomable! âWeâre going to have a lot of FUN! â I went into the waiting room and stopped at the reception desk. The receptionist stated that I should have requested the numbing solution to the other assistant, so she could have prepared it. I think there are sociopaths who happen to be oral surgeons. I donât have anything against doctors in general, in fact, have 2 brothers who are docs, a cardio thoracic surgeon and a cardiologist and they both have great bedside manners. Iâve also worked with medical devices and been an educator trainer for practitioners for 30 years, so Iâve seen the full gamut of personalities. When I went to retrieve my mother, Dr. Moorehouse said he would treat every patient the same and never use numbing gel and that included his 104 year old mother who heâs given implants as well. He told me I was not welcome there. Be forewarned, that you may not receive a compassionate oral surgeon at this practice.
